BAILEY |
|
| For those who do not know me, let me introduce myself. I am
Leader Dog Bailey, a 5 & 3/4 year old female yellow LabradorRetriever. I am a slim 68
pounds, have beautiful brown eyes and a "wagging tail." My birthday is Sept. 6.
I love squeaky toys and cuddly stuffed animals. I have been Jeanette's eyes for 4 & 1/3 years. I come from Leader Dogs for the Blind, Rochester, MI and my trainer was Tom Hill, an Air Force Veteran. Another interesting thing about Tom is that he trained Leader Dog Max, a black Labrador, who was Jeanette's first Leader Dog. Between Max and myself were two other yellow Labs, Sunny and Kendra. Each of us have been active in the M.O.C.A. What's the point of me telling you all of this? Jeanette and I are Grand President of the Auxiliary to the Grand Pup Tent, California for 1999-2000. "I get a lot of attention." Our mascot is "Bailey Two or B-2." She was created by a very talented lady who used my pictures as model. "B-2" looks just like me and she is traveling all around the country in the good hands of the Supreme Jr. Vice President, Colette Kove. I get E-mail and post cards when B-2 is on the road. As far as I know, "B-2" has been in Michigan, Tennessee, Arkansas and Virginia. A great honor was given to me this year when I was pictured on the Grand pins. You can contact me and I will sell you one for $3.50 which includes postage and handling. Rollin Joe and Jeanette will give you their joint pin. What is unique about the pins is they fit together. Just contact me and it's okay to use Jeanette's E-mail address. What I like best about this year is that Grand Commander Joe, a paraplegic and Jeanette who is visually impaired have teamed up for special "Disability Awareness." Guess what, I am part of the team. In fact, it is the first time that MOC-MOCA leadership on the Grand level has ever had a team like us. AND I am the first Leader Dog to be so honored. If you want to contact me, Jeanette lets me use her E-mail, or you can FAX me at 530-243-8776. I think it would be wonderful for you to learn more about Leader Dogs by either clicking on the web page at www.leaderdog.org or E-mail leaderdog@leaderdog.org Besides serving as "President" I also work at Jeanette's office. We do rehabilitation work with persons who are loosing their vision. I shall say good-bye for now, but remember: "Have fun, but get the job done and have a wagging good time."
