| You are now an honored member of the military order of the
cootie - the honor degree of the veterans of foreign wars of the United States of America.
With this honor the red cap of the military order of the cootie is bestowed upon you. Your cap is a badge of honor. Its color and shape are such as to be visible at a great distance. It distinguishes you as a cootie, belonging to the VFW organization dedicated to supporting those veterans and their dependents who are in "Beds of White!" Additionally, as a cootie you are supportive of the VFW national home at Eaton Rapids, Michigan. It is there that the orphaned children of our comrades receive the love and care to help make them better citizens of our great country. Now wearing this symbolic cap is an honor to be upheld by the wearer. You must always keep in mind, that although as a cootie you are prone to have fun and enjoy your meetings and other functions, you must never dishonor your cootie cap. You must never appear in public in an intoxicated or rowdy condition. As an example of our unique outfit your appearance will be closely observed by the general public. The impression you give is representative of the purpose of the Military Order of the Cootie. Always wear your Cootie cap with pride. It's your way of showing people that as a member of the honor degree of the Veterans of Foreign Wars you exemplify the fine work of your organization. |
