| 1. Students to receive a California Scholarship must
be enrolled in and be entering into the final year of
A. A nursing program in a California public or private
accredited college or university which leads
directly to a professional nursing degree
in a nursing program in order to be considered. Only
California residents will be considered.
B. An advanced program of professional nursing studies
which will result in a degree or professional
certificate above the bacalaureat degree
when completed, or
C. A baccalaureate degree program, or
D. A Registered Nursing Degree. Practical nursing
and/or vocational nursing programs.
(Laboratory technical licenses and the like
will not be considered suitable canditates at this time.)
2. Awards to students will be distributed in amounts as follows:
A. $1000 scholarships for advanced degree canditates
who have not previously received a
CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP,or
B. $500 scholarships for those who have.
C. $1000 scholarships for bacalaureat candidates.
D. $500 scholarships for programs resulting in less
than a bacalaureat.
3. Scholarships will not be awarded to prior M.O.C. scholarship
recipients except under extraordinary
circumstances deemed to be worthy of such additional award by the
Scholarship Committee.Under
no circumstances will more than two(2)scholarships be awarded to the
same recipient, nor a dollar
amount which will exceed $1500.00
4. Eligibility for the California Scholarships will be based on the
following criteria:
A. Academic standings of the student in all post-high
school work.
B. Favorable recommendation by the Institution where
the work is to be undertaken.
C. Prospects for a future career in professional
nursing.
D. Good character and past experiences of note which
are deemed positive.
E. Financial need of the student.
5. Additional criteria which will be considered as important,
esppecially where more applicants are
available than scholarships to be awarded will be:
A. Dependence on a member of the Military Order of
Cootie.
B. Dependence on the family of an active member of the
Armed Forces of the United States or one of
its Military Allies.
C. Applicants kinship or dependence for support on the
family of a veteran eligible for membership in
or a member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars.
6. Selection of awards recipients will be made by the Scholarship
Committee in session where possible,
or by contact through normal channels of communication when it is not
possible to bring the full
committee together.
7. Selection of recipients will be made annually within the frame work
of the Grand's approved budget
and under the accountability of the Grand Quartermaster and the Grand
Audit Committee, not to
exceed the amounts budgeted for scholarship purposes.
8. In as far as possible, preference of awards will be as follows:
A. Bacalaureat degree candudates will have first
priority.
B. Registerer nursing degree candidates will have
second priority.
C. Geographic Considerations will be considered in
awarding Scholarships.
D. Second awards will be considered last in priority.
9. The California Grand Scholarship Committee will consist of the
following members:
A. The California Grand Scholarship Chairman.
B. The California Grand Commander.
C. The California Grand Quartermaster.
D. Four Scholarship Committee Members chosen by the
Grand Commander annually. |
